2023 Reunion Info

2023 Reunion

Greetings to all that are interested in this year’s Corbly Reunion. I hope this e-mail finds you all doing well.Spring has sprung, the weather is getting warmer, and we are just over a month away from the Reunion. The date of the reunion is the 25th of June.
There is a Church service at the John Corbly Memorial Baptist Church which begins at 9:30. The Reunion will immediately follow. This year’s reunion will include a presentation about Elizabeth Tyler (Rev. Corbly’s second wife) and her family presented by a descendant, Linda Allgood. There will also be a short business meeting. A pot luck luncheon will immediately follow, headed up by Bill and Kathy Miller.
Also this year, we have made arrangements for a meeting space on Saturday, the 24th of June in Washington, PA at the Bradford House Meeting Hall, which is located on South Main Street. The time is 1:00 – 4:00. We are looking into having a lecture or a class provided at that time, and I am also told that there will be a hearth cooking demo in the kitchen cabin that day too.
The Whiskey Rebellion Museum is located across the street from the Bradford House. This is the building where the Corbly family Bible and two other documents – A General Dictionary of the English Language, Thomas Sheridan, Author, published in London, 1780 , and Two Treatises, First the Practicall Catechisme… Daniel Rogers, Author, published in London, 1640are located. This is a great opportunity for those of you that have not seen them to be able to do so.
We need a head count of attendees, so Bill and Kathy can appropriately plan the food for the Luncheon. Please respond back to me and/or Bill ([email protected]) if you are coming so we can accomodate you.
Thanks as always to the John Corbly Memorial Baptist Church for providing the very important historic venue for the Reunion, and also to the Bradford House, who have been providing us great support.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the Reunion!
Dave Fordyce, President, John Corbly Association
